Wine & Cheese Festival, Friday, October 17, 2008

A delightful evening event, from 7 to 9:30 p.m., at Richards, 359 Greenwich Avenue, supports the Orchestra's Young People’s Concerts for students in Greenwich public and independent schools and an annual competition to recognize instrumental musicians throughout Fairfield County schools.

The Festival features wine selections by Terry Rogers of Horseneck Wine & Liquor, paired with an array of gourmet cheeses and passed delicacies, and background music of soft jazz performed by Larry Spivack’s ''Lucky 37'' Jazz Quartet. (Larry, the percussionist of the Greenwich Symphony Orchestra, is donating his skill on the vibraphone to benefit the Young People’s Concert Series.)

Cost: $100 per person (partly tax-deductible), plus opportunities to provide additional support, including a silent auction of excellent wine values and related items, as well as to buy wines from among the more than 40 poured with a portion of the price going to the Symphony Orchestra.

Information: Debbie & Rick Kolman (chairs) 203-661-0511 or rick.kolman@gmail.com .
